Board of Directors

President

Michael Kennedy

Michael obtained a Bachelors of Science in Engineering degree with an emphasis in civil engineering from Marshall University and a Masters degree in civil engineering from The Ohio State University. He is a licensed professional engineering in Ohio. He has been a member of ASCE since graduating from Marshall University in 2013 and was also student member during undergraduate. Michael is also a member of ASDSO and WMAO.

Michael has worked in engineering consulting for 9 years, with most of that time at DLZ as a geotechnical engineer. He also has experience in laboratory testing and construction site inspection. Most of his work has included geotechnical engineering for water resource projects, transportation, and utility infrastructure, with an emphasis on dams and landslides.

1st Vice President

Andrew Gort

Andrew Gort is a graduate of the Ohio State University with a BS in Civil Engineering where he was involved in the student chapter of ASCE and served as the captain of the Concrete Canoe team. After graduating, Andrew actively participated in the ASCE Younger Members Section with the STEM Expo, ASCE Golf Outing, and served as the Treasurer from 2019-2022. Andrew has over 13 years of experience in engineering consulting and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Ohio and Kentucky. He currently is a Senior Project Manager at Hill International where is serving as an Owner Agent for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. 

2nd Vice President

Sonja Summer

Sonja Summer is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, where she was actively involved in the ASCE student chapter and served as chapter president. After graduating, Sonja continued her involvement with ASCE as a past president of the Central Ohio ASCE Younger Member Section and through her leadership of the annual STEM Expo. Sonja has professional experience in both the public and private sectors with a focus on transportation and public involvement. She is currently a Community Development Engineer for the City of New Albany, where she supports private development initiatives and engages with residents to strengthen community relationships. She also serves on the OSU CEGE Advisory Board, providing insight on current and future industry needs.

Treasurer

Thomas M. Less

Tom Less is a senior bridge engineer and infrastructure operations leader at Woolpert Inc. with 13 years of experience, specializing in structural and transportation design.  Tom holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Ohio State University and is licensed as both a Professional Engineer and Structural Engineer covering 10 states.  His experience has focused on structures with complex geometry; including curved beams and girders, haunched girders, flared framing plans, construction stage analysis, and suspension bridges.  Tom is the past Central Ohio ASCE Younger Members President, Past President of the ASHE Central Ohio Section, an active member in Engineer’s Without Borders, Association for Bridge Construction and Design, and Engineers Club of Columbus, and a consultant for the OSU Capstone program, where he advises students on their senior projects.

Secretary

Jennifer Yvette Rivera

Jennifer holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Florida State University and M.S. degree from University of Central Florida in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering. She has been an active member of ASCE since college holding
leadership roles as a student member, was a past president of Central Ohio ASCE Younger Members, and now joins the Central Ohio ASCE Main Section. Jennifer has 13 years of experience working in engineering consulting including geotechnical investigations, construction materials engineering and testing services, and transportation design. She is currently a bridge design engineer at Woolpert where she provides civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering for road and bridge transportation projects with a focus on foundation design.

Reese Kuhlman

Reese is a graduate of the Ohio State University with a BS in Civil Engineering where he was involved in the student chapter of ASCE. While a student Reese participated in several student chapter events of ASCE and was a mentee in the mentorship program. His experience has focused on complex transportation projects like roundabouts and interchanges. Reese is currently a Roadway Design Engineer at Burgess & Niple.

Daniel Odion

Daniel Odion obtained his BS in Civil Engineering from University of Ibadan, Nigeria and MS in Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with academic and research focus on Civil Engineering and Sustainable Materials, respectively.

In Daniel’s 10 years of experience, he has worked on projects in both  United States and Africa. His diversified engineering background has presented him with opportunities to operate in public and private sectors in various capacities from facility management to project engineering. His vast construction experience has proven valuable in resolving construction conflicts with cost-effective and time-saving solutions. Core competencies include mixed-use commercial and infrastructure development, project engineering, and quality assurance & quality control. He has a track record of excelling in demanding environments while directing developmental project teams culminating in successful deliverable using best practices.

Daniel’s interests include mentoring youths, volunteering in charitable organizations, and reading professional books while his hobbies are playing soccer, watching movies and cooking.

Peter A. Narsavage

Peter has a BCE degree from the University of Detroit and a Masters degree in geotechnical engineering from The Ohio State University. He is a licensed professional engineer in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

Peter is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Geo-Institute, and the Deep Foundations Institute. He has been the website editor for the Central Ohio Section of ASCE since 2000.

Peter worked for an engineering consulting firm for 11 years in Columbus, and then joined the Ohio Department of Transportation where he served as the state construction geotechnical engineer for ODOT. In that position, he was responsible for writing specifications, training, and construction assistance for issues related to earthwork, foundations, and retaining walls. Peter is now part of the team at E.L. Robinson Engineering, where he specializes in geotechnical and geostructural engineering.
