Central Ohio Section:
I really enjoyed our January Dinner meeting with both the Ohio University and Ohio State University student chapters. Both chapters have faced challenges this year with coordination and member engagement to name a few. However, both have also found ways to address the challenges and have had successful years. The skill of adaptability they have developed this year will serve them well in their professional careers. Please keep them in mind as you and your organizations look for interns/co-ops and full-time employees. These ASCE members are students that understand the value of not only their education, but involvement in additional activities. This drive for doing "more than required" will surely carry into their careers and demonstrates they are exactly the candidates for hire for which we all are searching. If you would like to get in touch with members of the ASCE student chapters please reach out to us through the website or me directly and we can connect you to them.
We will not have a luncheon conducted by ASCE in February as it is the annual E-Week luncheon conducted by all the engineering organizations. The E-Week luncheon will be held virtually this year on February 25 at 12 PM. The title is "Imagineering Tomorrow" and will feature Mandy Bishop of Smart Cities and Joanna Pinkerton of COTA. Details and a link for registration has been sent to all members and can be found on our website.
As a reminder, if you aren't able to make it to one of our virtual luncheons a recording is available on our YouTube channel. The channel is called Central Ohio ASCE. You can connect to our YouTube channel on the Central Ohio Section website by clicking the icon on the homepage. We encourage you to subscribe for access to recordings of past virtual luncheons.
As we move into February we are beginning to plan for Board elections in the spring. If you are interested in getting more involved with the Chapter please reach out to me or any of the other Board members to discuss opportunities.

2021 ENGINEERS WEEK - IMAGINEERING TOMORROW
For the January meeting, we got to hear updates from the student chapters of The Ohio State University, led by Dan Rinehart and Danny Vazquez, and Ohio University, led by Liz Myers. These student chapters are pushing through the world of virtual meetings, and have had very successful years despite the circumstances. Miles Hebert, P.E. and Mariah Anderson, P.E. with EMH&T then presented on the Cannon Drive Roadway and Levee Project. The levee is a vital component in the protection of the OSU campus and Wexner Medical Center. Part of the presentation included a bird's eye view of a recent storm using drone footage in which we were able to see the effects of the new levee south of John Herrick Drive. Even in this high water scenario, the east side of the levee remained dry. Now, the University is on to Phase 2, which is under design. It was a great presentation.
