About the Presentation

Southside MEGA Fix

This $113M, 5 ½ mile major rehababilitation project leading to the heart of Columbus from the southside on I-71 will rebuild the existing pavement and add a lane in each direction.  The project extends from just south of the Stringtown Road interchange to the 315/70/71 Interchange and includes ftull depth pavement and bridge replacement, widening, drainage, traffic control, lighting, noise walls, and sections of Army Corps of Engineers floodwall.  Project also includes the reconfiguration of the Southbound access from I-270 to the Stringtown Interchange.  Construction expected to be completed by the end of 2020.


Steven D. Fellinger, P.E.

Steve started his career with ODOT in 1999 as a college intern in District 4 in Northeast Ohio where he worked in Construction and Design. After graduating from Youngstown State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree he moved to Central Ohio where he has worked for the last 17 years in District 6 as an EIT, Designer, Project Manager and most recently promoted to the District Consultant Manager. 

Steve is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio.  He is currently managing multiple active projects, including the Columbus Crossroads project which is rebuilding the 70/71 Split through downtown Columbus, a 19 Phase project estimated at $1.3 Billion.

Randy J. McCellan, P.E.

After graduating from Youngstown State University in 1980, Randy moved to California where he started his career working for Caltrans.  After 14 years in California, Randy moved back to Central Ohio to continue his career in highway design.  He is currently the Highway Section Head for JMT in Ohio where he has worked for the last 10 years and was the Project Manager for the Southside MEGA Fix.

CPD Hours

A certificate for one (1) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hour will be issued at the conclusion of the program.
