Registration will begin at 5:30 PM. Dinner program to begin at 6:00 PM. Deadline for registration is January 9, 2019 at 5:00 PM. Registration is required. About the Presentation

The Ohio University and Ohio State University ASCE Student Chapters will provide an overview of their activies throughout the last year. 

The City of Athens will provide us with an overview of its capital improvement plan update and present current and future projects. The capital improvement plan includes an updated five year, $35 million capital plan for Surface Transportation Improvements, Sanitary Sewer Improvements, and Water System Improvements.


Robert Heady, P.E., P.S., ENV SP — Director of Public Works and City Engineer — City of Athens, OH

Robert C. Heady, P.E., P.S., ENV SP serves as the City Engineer and Director of Public Works for the City of Athens, Ohio.  Mr. Heady is an Ohio licensed Professional Engineer and Surveyor.  He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering degree from Ohio University and previously served as a project manager for two private engineering firms and as a Design Engineer/Bridge Program Team Leader for two Ohio County Engineers.

He oversees a staff or over fifty-five employees who maintain, repair, and  replace the City’s: 194 lane miles of roads; 410,000-ft of water line,  399,000-ft of Sanitary lines, 300,000-ft of Storm Sewers, 12 - bridges, Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, fifty Remote Water and Sewer Sites  (pump stations, lift stations, water towers, etc.), 36 - Traffic Signals, 300 - City owned Street Lights, 110 - Vehicles and major pieces of equipment in the City Vehicle Fleet.

Mr. Heady is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of capital Improvements for the City’s infrastructure.  The current five Capital five year Improvement program includes over $13 million in surface transportation, $18 million in sanitary sewer improvements, and $4 million in water system improvements.


The "Shaffer Street Classic" buffet includes salad, pretzel crusted chicken, OHIO meatloaf, green beans, potatoes, rolls, and Ho Ho Cake. 

A vegan/gluten free meal of vegan pasta with green olive pesto, pine nuts, grilled tofu, and articokes is available upon request.

CPD Hours

A certificate for one (1) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hour will be issued at the conclusion of the program.

The meeting will be held in the Baker Center (building no. 87 on the map found here), Multicultrual Center in room 2019 on the second floor. 

Parking is available inthe Baker Center Garage which is adjacent and to the northwest of Baker Center. Other on-street, metered parking is available in the area. Othe surface lots available as shown on the map, but please pay close attention to signage regarding parking.
